Overview

What Is the Meta Conversions API?

The Meta Pixel sends events from the visitor’s browser. The Conversions API sends the same events from a server. Running both together means Meta still receives your conversions when the browser blocks the Pixel.

The key is doing it correctly. Events must be deduplicated with matching event IDs and enriched with hashed customer information so Meta can match them to real people.

Why It Matters

Why the Conversions API Matters for Meta Ads

Browser restrictions and ad blockers stop part of your Pixel events from reaching Meta. Missing events mean weaker optimization, smaller audiences and reported results that do not match your real sales.

With the Conversions API in place, Meta receives a more complete picture of your conversions, which helps its delivery system find the people most likely to buy.

Results

How CAPI Improves Your Meta Ads Performance

When Meta receives more of your real conversions with better customer information, its algorithm has stronger signals to optimize delivery and build lookalike audiences.

Proper deduplication also keeps your reporting honest, so the ROAS you see in Ads Manager is closer to what your business actually earns.

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

    1. Do I still need the Pixel?

Yes. Meta recommends running the Pixel and the Conversions API together, with deduplication.

    2. What is Event Match Quality?

It is Meta's score for how well your server events can be matched to Meta users. More customer parameters, sent correctly, improve it.

    3. Why are my conversions doubled?

Usually because browser and server events are not deduplicated. Both need the same event name and event ID.

    4. Does CAPI work on Shopify?

Yes. Shopify has a native integration, and server GTM is an option when you need more control.

    5. Is customer data safe?

Customer information such as email and phone is hashed before it is sent, as Meta requires.

    6. How do I know it is working?

I verify events in Meta Events Manager, check deduplication and review Event Match Quality with you.
